International Sesame Street Co-Productions

Really good playlist that has a bunch of international clips

I'm very fascinated with international Sesame Street co-productions - they're super interesting to me. I love learning about them and seeing the wonderful characters people around the world have latched onto. Remember, Sesame Street was originally conceived to help children in low-income areas learn, and that's true with a lot of these too.

I was introduced to them as a kid through things such as the New Year's special "Sesame Street Stays Up Late" and catching Plaza Sesamo on Univision and watching it (despite not understanding it). As a kid, I liked exploring the International section on the Sesame Workshop website and meeting all the characters miles away from home.

There's a documentary called The World According to Sesame Street which I highly reccomend. It focuses on the coproductions of Bangladesh, Kosovo, and South Africa and why these meant so much to the children there. Heads up, things get very heavy in this for obvious talk of impoverishment, war, that sort of thing -that's what our world is, unfortunately, and it's important to teach children their way around these things for a brighter future. (yes it talks about the muppet with AIDS, grow up)
